Better late...

than no 10 Minute Scrap Pile Challenge card... right? This is the first of many, many 10MSPC cards that will be needed to use up all of the paper bag scraps from my Christmas cards. I used the top part of the bags for the cards and stitched them closed at the bottom, so that leaves me lots of bag ends to use up. Starting now...

I wanted to use this lacey printed transparency scrap for the edge and I added a bit of text print and a glitter paper heart punch to kick things up a notch. I repeated the scallop on the transparency with a cutie pie die cut edge on the top. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Mat Stack 3 Collection (love the sentiments in that one... very simple design that works with everything). I just stamped it on a scrap of PTI's white cardstock, trimmed it out, and added it over the floss with some foam tape. On a personal note... this post is late because I stayed pretty focused on family and home today. We had a great day of schooling, I had dinner prepped and cooking by lunch time, and Noelle busted out her first spontaneous and mostly inteligible "I love you" to me today. I couldn't help but be thankful for this day... for the normalcy of it... for the special time with Noelle... for waking up... because much of the past week has been focused on praying for and thinking about a student in our youth group. Luke is a senior in high school and has been a member of my husband's small group for several years. He suffered a brain aneurysm last week and is still in a coma. I am not exagerating when I tell you that Luke is a total sweetheart... a sweet spirit who leads with a friendly attitude and compassionate heart for the Lord. His family and friends... the students my husband and I have worked with every single week for years... are stepping up and doing amazing things... athletes fasting... setting up 30 hour prayer chains... encouraging each other and making me so proud of them. I wanted to give you the opportunity to read his story here because he is in need of the prayers of many. If the only thing I can do other than lift him up myself is ask you to consider doing the same, then I will. I cannot stop thinking of this family who is waiting and hoping that their oldest will simply wake up. That he will still be the same Luke. That he will survive. That is what I'm hoping. And that is why I'm thankful for today.

Jess,
Your blog post moved me today. Four years ago we found out that our then 20 year old son had two aneurysms. In a whirlwind he was whisked to major brain surgery and both were repaired in the nick of time. I know he was one of the lucky ones, usually you don't find out about an aneurysm until it has leaked or ruptured and by then the results can be catastrophic. I will be praying for Luke and his family, I know all too well the helpless feelings of those who wait for their loved one to recover.

Thanks for this post and for letting us know of this precious family that needs our prayers. Luke, as well as his family and your church family, will be in my prayers. The Great Physician knows our every need and will supply it according to His riches in Glory! What a great promise to hold on to in trying times. Take heart in knowing you are surrounded by love and prayers!

Jessica, When my niece was 17 she went a little wild, left home and consequently gave birth to a baby boy. My SIL loved her grandson but was still sad for the better life she thought my niece could have had. 6 years ago that grandson saved my SIL's life when she dropped to the floor in front of him with a brain aneurysm. He called 911 in time to life flight her to the hospital. She says he was her Guardian Angel. God does have a plan for each of us from our beginning to our end. I know he has Luke in his arms and I pray for peace and comfort to his family.

Thank you so much for sharing Luke & his family with us! Their story has been heavy on my heart since you first posted. While I feel removed and distant from his circumstances, I often am wondering how you & your church family are dealing with this reality. So thankful for the support his family has, so thankful for you, thankful for the Lord s promises...

For he will command his angels concerning you (Luke)
to guard you (him) in all your (his) ways; He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation."
Psalm 91:11, 15-16 NIV
