Boutique Accessories

Hello, all!

We're moving right along in Papertrey Ink's 6th Anniversary release week!
We've been celebrating with lots of fun contests every day and today's contest is all about one of my favorites... accessories.

And so... since I love accessories so much, I decided to make some for myself a friend ;)

See?
They're handmade, just for me her...

The new Boutique Accessories Card die kind of snuck up on me!  I'm totally loving how special it makes my little bobby pins.

I wanted to keep it very "boutique-y" so I tried to go for neutrals... something that would look lovely no matter what color accessory it's paired with.  I also wanted it to feel sturdy, yet pretty, so I cut the card from chipboard and the wrap from Soft Stone patterned paper.  I'm kind of loving how the warm and cool colors play off each other.

And I am *totally* loving the handmade stamp at the top from the new coordinating Boutique Accessories set.  That stamp is pretty much going to go on the back of every card I make from now on.

Every.
Card.

Here's the reverse side of those lovely bobby pins I made for myself a friend.

The key to this super quick, super easy accessory are the new Resin Flower Collections that PTI is now carrying.

Really, it's incredibly simple.  The idea is that you glue the flower to the top of the pin (I just used the glue that was already on the back of the flower) and then add a backing which sandwiches the pin between the flower and the backing.  I found that the new Polka Dot Parade #1 die - the bunny tail - is perfect for the backing.

I die cut four of that shape from a coaster square and one of that shape out of some coordinating felt (one for each flower).  I glued each felt circle to a chipboard circle and then slid that up and in to the end of the bobby pin so that it ends up being glued to the flower with the bobby pin in between.  The chipboard gives the felt the stability and strength it needs to keep the flower attached to the bobby pin.

Sweet, right?  The pins slip right in to the die cut panel that wraps around the card.

I attempted to sweeten it up even further with some simple wrapping and a little tag...

Chipboard again... this time with a sentiment from the new Mini Blooms set.  (LOVE the fonts in that set!) Perfect fit there... yay!

Hmmm...
I think I may have sweetened it up too much.
Now I kind of want to give it away just because it's so cute :)

More cuteness coming your way with the rest of the design team...

That's all for me today but I'll be back with you tomorrow!

Later, friends...

Of course you came up with the simplest, most elegant way to use this amazing set of packaging. I was going to pass on the resin flowers...I think not. : )
