Watercolor Challenge

Hey, there ;)

I'm joining in again today for Papertrey Ink's 6th Anniversary celebration!

And Nichole's challenge for today?
Watercolor.

Hmm... let's see... I seem to recall just a *few* watercolor projects ;) like this one and this one (the last card in that post).  I'm a watercolor fan.

Today I thought I'd go with a super simple technique using just stamps using just stamps and ink.
Let's call it...
Faux Watercoloring :)

The new Irresistibly Ikat set is just right for this technique.

Instead of cardstock, I went with some basic watercolor paper for the card base.  It's not something I do all the time, but it has a pretty texture and, obviously, works well with a bit of water ;)

I started with the upper column of chevrons. After stamping each one, I went right over it with a simple waterbrush, brushing right over the stamped image to blur out some of the color past the edges. (I keep several waterbrushes in with my basic tools but a wet paintbrush will work just as well.)

Once the images had dried off for a few seconds I reinked and restamped each one right over the original.

It has the effect of watercoloring but it's super simple... love simple :)

I love how the graduated edges of the design work with the blurred edges of the watercoloring.  Obviously, I couldn't quite let go of yesterday's color palette of Autumn Rose, Melon Berry, and Orange Zest... still really loving that and the new Ikat set.  More to come with both, I'm sure :)

And more to come from me tomorrow!
But before then, head on over to Nichole's to check out today's contest and submit a little watercolor project of your own!

Love, Love, Love this project, Jess! This is my idea of how to use irresistible Ikat. It is certainly an intriguing color combo as well... Fits perfectly with the exotic feel of the pattern.

I love how this turned out and it seems to give a ombre feel to it (the ikat design is perfect for that). I'd like to feature your card in a trend article for Paper Crafters Library, http://blog.papercrafterslibrary.com/
