i love yoU

Cake. Killer Bunnies. Pool. Cleaning. Mooyah. Church. Whataburger. Stamping. Sprinklers. Cooking. Big Brother. And that would be what I did this weekend. For those of you who weren't there, here's the key: Cake. One triple-layer-double-chocolate-from-scratch-never-fail birthday cake for fabulous husband. (Mine, that is.) I have made this cake no less than 872 times or at least it seems. This time my subconcious apparently thought it was time to switch it up because I a) forgot to add the salt to the cake batter and b) put the layers together without putting the icing in between. Yeaaaaah. Not so good. Those of you who are bakers know that salt is *vitally* important to the cake. VITAL. Cuts the sweetness and makes all the yummy flavors much yummier. Not much I could do about it seeing as how the cakes were actually cooling off when it came to me. Oops. At least I realized that I had somehow stacked the layers without the icing in between when I had about thismuch space of un-iced cake left to slide a spatula in and lift off each layer. Um yes... this process was messy. But that's ok. Because I will absolutely *not* be serving/eating a triple layer cake without icing between the layers. Because that would not be a layer cake. That would just be a tall cake. Killer Bunnies. Kinda nerdy card game where the goal is to kill each other's bunnies. Seriously. (But not real bunnies. I may live in Texas, but no, I'm not out shooting little bunnies on the weekends. At least not this weekend. Bwahaha! KIDDING!) And I actually had to go to a specialty game store (i.e. Dungeons & Dragons, etc. store) to purchase it, which was quite a strange event in and of itself. Admitedly, though, it's funny, and it's even more funny when we play with our regular weekend card/game playing friends. (One of those friends happens to be the "Mikki" of previous bread baking fame... she has been forgiven and allowed back into the circle of friends). This game is yet even more funny when Brian and I tell possibly the BEST joke of all time during the game. And no, I can't tell it here, because it just won't be the same. It would just be ruined for you and you would lose all respect for the best joke ever. And I can't allow that to happen to you. Pool. Outdoor pool at the gym with the fam. One day (Lord willing) we will have our own Witty pool where we will not have to make childcare reservations for the little Witty and going swimming won't seem like an entire day trip of packing essentials, lunch, clothes, etc. But we love it, so we do it. Much fun. Will probably repeat sometime this week. Cleaning. 3 kids. Only 1 of whom partially picks up after himself. That pretty much sums it up. Mooyah. Super fabulous local fast food burger joint with possibly my favorite fries ever. And that's sayin a lot cause I like fries. A lot. Eaten with super fab friends who tolerate our kids. Bonus. Church. Sat in the front row because previously mentioned super fab friend brought the word. Debated about making Sharpie-on-copy-paper signs with witty inside jokes on them to flash during the sermon, but didn't. Might do it next week, though. Whataburger. Not as good as Mooyah, so I won't bother linking to it. But still there with other super fab friends who also have kids and therefore tolerate ours, so at least the talking was good. Stamping. Gooooood. See? Well, I mean, it's debateable about whether what's below is good or not, but I did enjoy myself. Loving this new set from Hampton Art. The letters and numbers are my favorite! I'm such a sucker for letters. Stamp companies have apparently figured this out about me. But these letters are all lined up and will make fabulous backgrounds for a million different things and was therefore a reasonable purchase. I had this little experiment in mind for a focal image with it... I'm diggin' it. I inked the whole stamp with gray then used an embossing stylus wrapped with a wipe to clean off the single letter and reinked that one with a marker. It went much quicker than it appears on the card, I swear. And I'm not that into hearts, but I thought the little stick pin heart was perfect here. I love gray. It's just so much nicer than black, right? Not "nicer" like "better" but "nicer" like "less mean looking." Know what I mean? It makes sense in my head, at least.

Sprinklers. Older son, not me. Fun to watch, though. Cooking. Mongolian grill. It was good and I didn't forget any major ingredients this time, so yay! Big Brother. What can I say? Guilty pleasure. Later, friends.
