Paper Crafts Magazine Presents: 350 Cards & Gifts Blog Hop
Hey, there, paper crafty friends! Paper Crafts is celebrating the newest special issue and one of my very favorites... 350 Cards & Gifts.
Honestly, I'm not normally really a "& Gifts" kind of girl.
I really lean more toward the short and simple "Cards" part of that title.
But somehow I fell headfirst into a pile of home decor and gift inspiration for this issue.
Shadowboxes, wall hangings, gift card holders, wreaths, jars, etc. None were safe; all were attempted.
And it felt good to veer off into the land of "& Gifts."
I got back to card basics for today's blog hop, though. Lots of designers, each focusing on one of the super cute patterns included in the issue.
And the pattern I was given?
The super sweet dress pattern by my {newly married!} friend, Kim Hughes...
I was 100% inspired by Noelle's Easter dress from last year. I was holding the Stella Rose patterned paper from My Mind's Eye in my hand with a completely different plan of action when I realized how familiar that sweet yellow gingham print was. And that was that.
I sacrificed several of my new American Crafts flower brads to the cause :)
And then I went to stamp the sentiment...
yikes.
Not good.
So I went to Plan B.
Otherwise known as the Hide-the-Mistake-Game.
There.
Whew.
That's the way it goes with paper and ink, right? Mishaps happen :)
I know the rest of today's designers have come up with lots of mishap-less projects for you, though, so check it...
Betsy Veldman
Kalyn Kepner
Kim Hughes
Chan Vuong
Teri Anderson
Vanessa Menhorn
Kristin K. Tierney
Lucy Abrams
Ashley C. Newell
Cristina Kowalczyk
Latisha Yoast
And man, oh, man... did I mention the prizes?!
Leave a comment here for a chance to win your own copy of 350 Cards & Gifts.
And head on back to Paper Crafts Connection and comment there for a chance at some of this...
Later, friends!

This is such a cute little card, I love it!!! Thanks for sharing =)
Cute card & sneaky cover up , like it a lot!
Fabulous!
I laughed when you showed the "oops". How often we revise things to cover up boo-boos.
Super cute. I love the roses and that you admit a little boo-boo. ;) I do the same thing!
You know why I think you rock?
Because... like... dude...you are awesome.
Love what you did. And love how you hid your mistake.
Transformed that mistake & added dimension. Way to go!
Super adorable! Perfect Easter card for a little girl. Thanks for the chance to win.
Love your card, Jessica! We all know about, oops! I even started stamping the sentiment first, but finally decided it was just best to hide the mistakes, like you did. Love the dress card! So cute!
I love your gingham dress, so cute!
Jess-you never fail to make me laugh. Love it when you show that designers are human too, & that we all can make mistakes! Love your dress card & your button shadowbox too!!
what a fun card! Love the flower brads, and the way you "covered" a less than perfect impression. I just got my first order from Papper Trey and am thrilled to pieces to have chosen Mega Mixed Messages among 3 sets I was able to purchase :)
LOL! Seriously! 'Hide the mistake' game. How many times have I played that one myself!
And sacrificing brads... so often I have papers I can't bear to cut and embellies that are just too cute to use. Shame on me :)
This was definitely a good sacrifice.
I love gingham. And yes, we've all come up with creative ways to cover our mistakes. Sometimes they look better then the original idea.
This is simply DARLING!
gingham = adorable! Thanks for sharing...
Very cute and thanks for showing both versions.
This is so cute. Must try it.
Cute card! LeAnn
Adorable.
It's just so sweet.
This is so gorgeous! LOVE the way you added the blinged up belt at the bottom & the stitching! Such a sweet modern way to send Easter wishes. Had to giggle at the Hide-the-Mistake-Game. I've played that one before! ;o)

Good cover job on a really sweet project.
Adorable!!
Adorable dress card.
God bless,
PeggyS
Oh my goodness Jess, that dress card is darling! Thanks for showing us your mistake and how you fixed it! I normally stick to the cards, rather than the gifts myself, and I loved reading about how your framed buttons came to be from a card!
What an adorable dress!! That is fabulous. Thanks for showing how you fixed the goof!!
Hah! They're never mistakes -- they're "opportunities to layer". :P What a sweet card!
This is really sweet!
Such a sweet card! Love the flowers and bling! My favs!
It's refreshing for someone to admit they made a mistake and how they fixed it. I have to do that a lot.
Very sweet dress card. And who would know that you had to re-stamp the sentiment. Looks perfect!

Darling! Darling! Darling! I'm off to make one for each of my granddaughters. Thanks for such a terrific share. (Glad to know little problems plague the pro's, too.)
Cute dress - and good to know that mistakes can happen even to the pros! Thanks for showing a good way to recover.
Good recover on the sentiment :) I won't tell you how many times that happens to me.
So sweet. Lovely.
your button frame was my favorite. Thanks for sharing how it came to be. I do love the dress too. You have darling cards. I love the circles with the overlay. Genius. Will be doing that one. THANKS
Thanks for sharing the mistake! Seems to me that those always lead to an even better card!
This is really cute! I liked your cover-up. I was afraid that it was bad etiquette when I do that (I'm a newbie!), so I was happy to see how great it can look! Thank you!
This is the CUTEST CARD EVER!!!!! And I was glad to see that I'm not the only one sho uses that "cover-up" game!!!! :-)
No mistakes, just a chance for more embellishments!
cute
This is darling! And how sweet are those flower brads, eek!
So ADORABLE!!!!
hehe - thanks for sacrificing the AC brads to the cause. ;) This card is adorable!! I only wish my daughter had a dress this cute.
And thank you, too, for showing us that mistakes happen, even from the best paper crafters. But look how lovely this card turned out. TFS!!
I love how you showed us the mistake - and how you fixed it! Adorable!

Sweet shaped card! I know some little girls - and some big girls! - who'd love to receive a card like this. TFS ;-)
Okay, I'm sure we could be super tight in real life because I'm totally a mishap girl!! I love how you covered it - and that's the nice thing about paper crafts! :) What a precious dress card.
This is darling Jess! I love that little ginham dress - reminds me of when I was a girl. My mom always made my sister and I matching Easter outfits - no we aren't twins, i think it was just easier to make the same thing twice :) Anyway one year she made us gingham dresses - one was yellow and one was blue - can't remember which one was mine - think the blue but this little card really brought back that memory into sharp focus! Thanks for sharing this sweet project!
OH I love this little dress! It is entirely too precious.
love it!!!!
OMGoodness. What a cute idea. Just a fun creative card to make. Thanks for sharing.

Super cute! Love all the different elements. Glad you were able to cover up your mistake too!
I love this dress card. It is darling. It's nice to know others have to rework things sometimes. Thank you for the inspiration.
Simply sweet! And I can certainly relate to having to resort to Plan B to cover one's mistakes.
This is just so adorable!
Love it, will definitely use this for an idea!
The flowers and sequins are just what's needed. I love the way you covered your boo-boo.
Very sweet! Love your embellishments with the ribbon and flowers!
DeniseB

darling card! i love to see when my crafting idols (all paper craft gals are included in this) have stamping mishaps) and use their creativity to disguise them... i don't feel so alone.
What an adorable little dress card--I don't know why you think your sentiment didn't turn out--I think it looks fab....but then again, I like how you finished it with the new sentiment--so either way--YOU ROCKED it:}
Love this one!! The colors are super & I love how you fixed the "mistake"!
That dress is so cute. Perfect for clothing store gift cards for my nieces.
I love your cute little Easter dress! I also appreciate you sharing your "mistake" and how you fixed it.
Nice to know even the pros make mistakes. However, to paraphrase Thomas Edison, it's not a failure it just shows me what doesn't work. The dress is terrific, I can see it used in so many different ways.
Childhood Memories came rushing back with this one:)
Glad to know I'm not the only one who covers up smudges! Great project!
It is so encouraging to know someone as talented as you has mishaps also. And your "cover up" was genius.I wouldn't have thought of that.
Hi Jessica
Love your dress and sense of humor.
