Super Stars

Hey, there, everyone!

Have you recovered from yesterday's sugar fest?
I'm currently trying to recover with a sugar fast ;)
(Thanks for all of your lovely comments... you guys really know how to make a crafter/baker feel good :)

So, in lieu of sweets, I thought I'd bring you something a little more artsy for today's Papertrey Ink countdown post.  And today's inspiration is right here...

Today the design team is focusing on another brand new set and border dies that are being released on March 15... Super Stars.  And can you guess what the focus of this set is?  ;)

The new Super Stars Border Die Collection is a set of 2 dies... one with open connected stars and one with
closed connected dies.  The open die leaves you with lots and lots of these super tiny stars.

When I saw the Anthropologie shower curtain at the top (Shower curtain? Seriously? That thing is too beautiful to be covering a shower.) I knew I wanted to try to recreate the feel of it. I love the design... full and layer-y at the top, tapering off toward the bottom.

This design isn't exactly clean cut... it's a little bit more freeform, so set your perfectionism aside and let your inner artist come out to play for a while :) In order to achieve that layered, fluffy feeling the shower curtain has, I started by using a standard hole punch to punch out lots and lots of tissue paper circles. That actually went lots faster than you might think. Just use lots of layers of tissue at once and you'll be done in no time. I rubbed the circles in between my fingers to break up the layers so it was like they multiplied before my eyes.

To start building up the layers on my card, I sprayed the upper portion of my cardstock panel with spray adhesive.  Do yourself a favor and cover the bottom portion of the panel with a piece of scrap cardstock.  I sprinkled my tissue circles all along the top and shook off the excess.

Next up... the sparkle.  I die cut two strips each of silver and gold glitter cardstocks with the open star border die.  I left them upside down on my work table and just used my 2-way glue pen to add the glue to the backs and pick them up at the same time.  And then I stuck them down... wait for it... randomly.

Seriously.
Not gonna lie.
It was hard for me.

Random is really not my strongest creative quality.

BUT.
It was necessary.

I folled the stars up with another layer of spray adhesive and some more tissue circles.  This step is key in getting the layered effect going.

All that was left to do was add the sentiment.  Love, love, love the sentiments in this set!  Such sweet, sweet sayings.
Ready for more sweetness?  Head on over to check out the rest of the design team...

All righty, folks... that's all for now!  You know I'll be back tomorrow with yet more March Papertrey Ink projects...

Ummm...wait for it...LOVE! This card is gorgeous! Agreed that the curtain is too pretty for a shower, but this card is simply stunning...and so simple, yet elegant. OK, thanks for the inspiration...now I have to buy the stars and make one for myself! =o)

LOVE IT! I chuckled about the "randomly". I too, would have a hard time with that -- but you rocked it. This is awesome - I'm so excited about the stars... LOVE them :) Thanks for sharing!

Now I think it takes a dedicated paper crafter to go to all of that work but it sure turned out cute so I would say it was worth the FUN!!!
