One last hello!
For today's last Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-faire post, the design team is bringing you our Stamper's First Aid projects.
The original project I worked with today was submitted by the talented Sara at My Little Paper Addiction. I was drawn to her project for so many reasons... you all know I love cutie pie clouds... not to mention clean and simple designs... so this one was an easy choice for me :)
First up... I started with just a few basics.
I love the clouds dies she used... definitely some of my favorites. To help keep the scale of the card in keeping with the clouds, I went ahead and used a smaller card base (3.5x5"). With images or dies that are on the smaller side, a smaller card will help the scene feel more full with less white space (kraft, actually in this case) to fill up. It draws the clouds and the senntiment together a bit more and makes everything feel a bit more cozy.
I also loved Sara's idea of layering the clouds on Kraft cardstock. My go-to colors with clouds are White on Soft Stone so Kraft felt fun and new to me. I did lighten the feel of the Kraft by adding a white card base... just gives an airier feeling.
Next up, I went ahead and added another cloud and, you'll notice, a sun peeking out there.
Three clouds give you the ability to layer the images as well as provide balance. I also let the clouds and sun go right over the edge of the layer... it helps with the natural feel of the card and gives a realistic pattern. The sun gives a bit of hopefullness as well as adds a touch of color :)
Sara also had a great idea with grounding her sentiment with the baker's twine. I still wanted to ground the sentiment, I just drew my ribbon and sentiment closer to the bottom to really give that grounded feeling to the scene. The silk ribbon balances the white from the clouds above.
And there you have it... the end of today's Stamper's First Aid project and the end of today's Stamp-a-faire! (I feel like there should be some sort of Olympic torch extinguishing or something, don't you?)
I so hope you guys have enjoyed yourself! I know I tried lots of new things (videos, what?) for today and hope that you were able to find some inspiration and fun as well.

I love how you added the sunshine for a spot of color and it does add a feel of hope. I also like how you layered the clouds and pushed them to the edge. They seem much more striking than my clouds floating in all that random space. Mounting the kraft layer onto a white base is nice, too to make it a bit more bright.

Love you take on her card!! What did you die cut the clouds with - is it vellum? It looks slightly patterned and translucent but wasn't on your supplies list ... and how about the punched out sun?

Thanks so much for explaining why you chose the things you did for this card. It helped the (very) small design part of my brain understand a little more about what to consider when I make my own cards. Also, a very huge thank you for all your effort in making SAF a success. I had such a wonderful time learning new things along with the camaraderie of the day. Your part in all that is very much appreciated. I know it must have been a lot of work.
Thank-you for all your hard work for Stamp-A-Faire. I kind of pooped out at the end so am looking forward to picking up those challenges later. Also to go back and try some of the other techniques I didn't choose first time around. Thanks for giving us so much creativity and inspiration.
