November's Papertrey Ink release week continues on with another group post from the design team :)
All of the new products will be available at www.papertreyink.com starting November 15th, but in the meantime... it's sneak peek time...
and today's peeks are of the all new Knit Bits and Purls of Wisdom sets.
And I'm a little over the moon about them because they're just the sets I needed to *finally* bring this to life...
Seriously.
I've wanted to make this card for forever.
I've seen it done as a wedding invitation and have always wanted to put my own spin on it.
Done ;)
The basic idea here is that you tie the button twine in a loose knot and secure the ends on the front and back of the card... that way, as the card is opened, the knot is tied.
It's very simple, so I'm going to let the pictures do most of the talking.
I used the little hole reinforcer die from Tag Sale #6 as focal points for the button twine. A tiny hole punch in the center of each one finished it out.
In the picture above you can see that I've already threaded the twine through to the front of the card, tied the knot in the front, then tied a very loose knot in the center of the card.
Then just thread the twine through to the back side...
The key here is adjusting the length of the twine so that the knot will finish tying when the card is opened almost all the way.
When you get it to the right length, just tie it off in the back...
It should look something like this on the inside...
And from the top...
The best part is that as the card is opened and the rest of the sentiment is seen, the knot starts tying...
Cool, right?!
Not gonna lie... I kinda love it :)
The Knit Bits cable knit grounds the sentiment from Purls of Wisdom on the front. I went with more of a nautical color scheme (white, Enchanted Evening, gold, and Kraft) to echo the knotted theme. It's a classic and felt just right for a somewhat timeless design.
It makes me happy :)
And one more happy project for you...
You guys know how much I love a homemade food gift.
But you know what I *really* love?
A super fast, non-homemade, but still just as thoughtful, food gift.
Because sometimes... I feel the need... the need for speed.
{Bonus points to you if you can name the movie ^^^}
This packaging is somewhere between a wrap and a tag.
{Would that make it a r-ag? No. A t-rap? Also no. Apparently that trick does not work here ;) }
The Knit Bits cable knit made another appearance here with some white embossing powder. The Purls of Wisdom sentiment sits right above that cutie pie pinked edge on the Tag Sale #7 die cut.
I went ahead and cut two of those and adhered them back to back with some score tape. The placement of the tags at the top of the spice box makes it the perfect little handle ;)
These are my favorite mulling spices. I *love* them with cider for a special treat at the holidays, but I also add some to my vanilla chai tea bags for a special spiced tea without the extra sugar from the cider ;) {Hint, hint... this would be a quick and sweet little thank you for someone who might appreciate receiving a holiday gift on the healthier side.}
Well, folks... there's even more to see of Knit Bits and Purls of Wisdom with the rest of the team...

OK, how do you do it? Every month there are sets that I think I don't "need" ;) but then you go and do something genius with them and then I must have them! Today is one of those days. That knot tying card is simply genius. And the tags on the box are another example of genius. So, today, you are the genius! Thanks for the inspiration and for making me spend more money! =o)
Your card is simply amazing! I know a couple that this card would be PERFECT for - now if only they would announce their intentions, lol.
CLEVER, CLEVER, CLEVER! LOVE IT!
I too love your knot card. Very clever.
Did you use score tape for your adhesive or something easier to remove without tearing up your tag? Also, where do you get your favorite mulling spices?
OK, so doing that knot on the next wedding card. Thanks for explaining the how to. Love all your ideas!
