Fancy Folk Art

So happy to be with you today, sharing a few new products from Papertrey Ink :)

Today we're bringing you an all new set called Fancy Folk Art.

Nichole tasked the design team with finding a Pinterest inspiration for our projects and it didn't take me long :)  This bright floral print had plenty to pull from...

The bright and simple color scheme drew me in but it was the black background that really clinched it for me.  {I realized after I finished my projects that my pinterest inspiration?  Yeah, I repinned it from Nichole, haha!}

I really wanted to bring the feel of that floral print to life so I started with the obvious... the black background.  And although it's not my typical style, I also wanted to depart from my typical white space and go with the more full feeling of the floral print...

Enter my secret weapon... the Fancy Folk Art dies :)

It might not look like it, but I used the main die 3 times. Yes, there's the full image in the center, but I used two more die cuts to fill out the corners and sides. 

No need to color all three images, though.  Here's the key... start by coloring the main image and embossing the sentiment.  (I did some simple masking with a piece of scotch tape to stamp only the top portion of the sentiment.  I stamped the banner portion separately on white cardstock, trimmed it out, and adhered it with foam tape.)
 

Once the sentiment is finished, adhere the main die cut image.  Then take the two extra stamped die cuts and arrange them at the top corners.  You'll only need a small portion of each die cut... you can see that I tried to position two of the flowers at the corners. 

Then it's just a matter of putting a little adhesive those portion and trimming off the rest, right along the straight edges of the card.  I repeated that process at the bottom corners and sides.  The top center needed just one of the single die cut flower to finish everything off. 

That left me coloring only the portions of the images that I actually used :)

I have to say... this card is a new favorite of mine.

Over the years I've realized how closely tied in to my emotions so many of my cards end up being... silly, I know, but true.  Can anyone relate?  This one was so fun much fun to make and came out so much like I hoped that I can't help but love it.  It makes me happy :)


I have one more happy project for you today... a little mini take on my happy card, if you will...

It's actually sort of a mini within a mini :)

One of the new Tremendous Tag dies was perfect for layering on the previously released Tag Sale #7.  I paired the Fancy Folk Art flower with the stem image from this month's Heart-2-Heart #12.  The little Tremendous Tag in black made a nice mini background there and left jus the right amount of space for the Fancy Folk Art sentiment.

I'm really digging the combination here... it's sort of the clean and simple version of my card...

And just when you thought it was over... nope :)
