Polka Dot Parade #5

Oh, happy day... it's countdown time to June's Papertrey Ink release :)

Today I'm bringing you a few sneaks of one of this month's brand new sets... Polka Dot Parade #5.
{All of June's new products will be available at Papertrey Ink beginning June 15.}

Let's jump right in, shall we?
Polka Dot Parade #5 features this cutie pie birdie...

I die cut birdie from a piece of text patterned paper, then stamped right over the text.  Love that the text fills in the open spaces of the wing and belly :)

Some shredded paper makes a soft nest for birdie's sweet eggs... found that image in the previously released Friendship Jar: Spring Fillers set.  I trimmed them out by hand... super simple.

This Polka Dot parade edition has some happy sentiments... this combination is my favorite!  So cheerful.

The larger Sketched Shapes banner die and smaller Countdown Details die strike again ;)
They're basics, folks.  Just give in and get 'em if you haven't already.
You'll use the heck out of em, I swear.

Next up, Polka Dot Parade #5 goes clean and simple...

The polka dots in this set come in the form of polka dotted wing and belly images that you can add on to the birdie... perfect for a little pop of pattern or color.  This time I stamped the birdie image on a small section of one of PTI's cork sheets with Fresh snow ink... the cork gives the birdie such a cool texture.  A yellow polka dot wing keeps things bright.

The little music notes in this set inspired me to pull out the previously released Rhythm & Soul set for this sentiment.  Love this pairing!

One more fun one...

When playing around with this set and die it hit me that I could probably use  a die cut and then the reverse of another die cut to come up with a way to have two birdies facing each other.

You know I'm always trying to get the most out of my supplies ;)

Love these dies both with and without the stamps.  I just die cut two birdies, then flipped one over.  I know, I know... the reverse side of a die cut is not the "finished" side.  But by adding some texture with an impression plate (I used Linen) and going around the edges with a bone folder, the birdies start to look much more alike.

My little lovebirds are nestled into the branches from Stitched Sentiments with a little Bountiful Banner beneath.  The sentiment is from the new Bigger Blooms set that's being released this month.

Sweet, right?
I started making it as a wedding card but I have a newly engaged friend and Hip Hip Hooray seems like just the right sentiment to send along to her :)

Nichole and Maile are also sharing sneaks today, so head on over for more June sweetness.

Thanks for stopping by, folks!
More tomorrow, promise :)

All the little birdies go "tweet, tweet, tweet". Your cards are very "tweet". Love the detail of the scalloped border on the love birds card.

Hi Jess! Love the bird card facing each other. If you die cut the birdie on the opposite side of your cardstock, you won't have to worry about the "unfinished" side. Look forward to tomorrow's post! -Rae
