Paper Crafts Magazine Presents: A Card Style Mystery Blog Hop

I love style. Sometimes I like the one I have. Sometimes I wish I had someone else's. Isn't that the great thing about style, though? You can always try out a different one. I sort of revel in the fact that while some things are set in stone... style never is. You can choose one... than another. But sometimes it's a little hard to figure out what makes a style. I mean, you can only try out a new style if you know how, right? Enter, Card Style.

Paper Crafts has taken four of the most popular styles today and packed a whole special issue with them.

Sweet.

I have sort of a "home base" style. My old friend. {Like... from when I started with this whole card gig back in the 00's.} My first friend. (Back when I was first given a Stampin' Up catalog and read the darned thing cover to cover.) Always there for me... even when I stray. (To clean and graphic... it's like my style mistress*.) The one I always come back to. Hello, again, classy & elegant.

When I'm going for a classy and elegant feel, I tend to work with things like glitter (refined... not gaudy), luxe ribbons (silky, satiny... not cutesy), classic images (beautifully drawn and detailed... not whimsical), and timeless fonts and sentiments (not too trendy).

For this project, I challenged myself to make a quick classy & elegant card. Sometimes I find myself spending a bit longer on elegant cards... trying to add just the right touches... enough, but not too much. I do find that multiples can work really well to create an elegant feel. So I took a package of these glittery, double layered butterflies from Martha Stewart and did the unthinkable... I used almost all of it on one card. Nearly the entire package. On one card. Gasp, I know. But so worth it. I used one of my fave go-to papers for elegant pieces - vellum - stamped a vine image on it in versamark for an extra layer of depth without fussiness, and layered it beneath a transparency card base. Sort of a modern take on elegant. Hey, classy and elegant doesn't have to be boring, folks... just classy and elegant.

To celebrate Card Style, we're doing it up big.

BIG.

$350 worth in prizes kind of big.

You can see all the loot at Paper Crafts Connection and Moxie Fab World.

And between those two blogs and the 18 blogs involved in a special Mystery Blog Hop, you've got 20 chances to win.

Sweet.

Just leave a comment here letting me know about your go-to style then mosey on over to the next mystery blogger by clicking on the mystery link below...

You're gonna love her. Trust me. And, don't forget... if you still need a copy of Card Style, you can pick one up asap right here. Later, friends!

*mistress Yeah, so I just googled "other word for man mistress." Because I had no idea what word that would be, yet I needed it to finish that sentence.

And this is what google gave me: gigilo sugardaddy homewrecker and the one that made me laugh the most... fancy man

Ummmm... what?? Not that I actually need to know this information, and hopefully neither do you, but hilarious nonetheless. By the way... just in case you were wondering... not thinkin' any of these would fit into the category of classy & elegant... hahaha!

I love to use butterflies on cards too and I agree, instant elegant. Trying to add some cute and fun to my style, now that I have a first grandchild and will be making more children's cards !

Your post cracked me up as Annabelle said it would! :) I ould find it nearly impossible to use a whole package of something on a card. It just goes against the way my brain thinks, you know! Usually I am trying to STRETCH my supplies! But your card is gorgeous and so worth the entire package. It's also a great excuse to go buy more, right?

Gorgeous card! I'm sort of a cute and sassy kind of person mixed up with the elegant--I usually do either of those, depending on who the receiver is.

Style is who you are, how you became of, and most of all, what shapes your future. I like the way you talk about yourself, it is what you are like. And my style is absolutely what comes to mind, and make it, alter it until I am fully satisfied.
